The University of Telecommunications and Post boasts a long history of over 140 years and is practically the oldest professional state-funded educational institution in Bulgaria. Founded in 1881 by Alexander I, the first prince of modern autonomous Bulgaria, the State School of Telegraph and Postal Services became the institution providing exclusive training and expertise in the field for both civil and military purposes.
In 1997 it was transformed into the College of Telecommunications and Post, offering a three-year-long training to its students. In 2015 the college received full institutional accreditation and became the University of Telecommunications and Post, granting Professional Bachelor’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In 2020 UTP was accredited for Doctoral (PhD) studies in its two key professional areas – administration and engineering. UTP holds the annual international scientific conference THIEM, as well as a student scientific conference and various competitions.
