The University of Telecommunications and Post Expands Its Technological Partnership with a Visit to the University of Information Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City

The academic delegation of the University of Telecommunications and Post (UTP), led by its Rector, Prof. Miglena Temelkova, DSc, conducted a strategic working visit on 15 October to the University of Information Technology – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (UIT).

The host institution is recognised as the undisputed leader in Southern Vietnam in computer science, software engineering and artificial intelligence. The Bulgarian delegation’s visit to the South is a key part of a large-scale academic mission to the Asian country, conducted in the context of the new intergovernmental education agreement between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

During the official talks with the university’s leadership, the two sides placed particular emphasis on international student exchange, identifying it as an important pillar of their future partnership. The leaders of both universities emphasised that direct mobility will enable students from Bulgaria and Vietnam to study in a multicultural environment, gain invaluable practical experience in real technological ecosystems and develop the global skills required by today’s business world.

The meeting defined several key areas for long-term cooperation: joint educational programmes, scientific research and mobility.

The design of innovative curricula, mutual recognition of credits and opportunities for study programmes leading to double degrees were among the topics discussed during the working meetings at the University of Information Technology.

“Research conducted by joint research teams and the sharing of resources in the most advanced technological fields, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data exchange and the Internet of Things, bring benefits to both sides. The exchange of academic staff broadens the educational paradigms of both academic institutions,” said Prof. Miglena Temelkova, DSc, after the meeting.

With this visit, the delegation of the University of Telecommunications and Post successfully extended the scope of the Bulgarian educational mission beyond the capital, Hanoi. Following fruitful meetings in the North with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Phenikaa University and Victoria Hoa Binh University, the visit to Ho Chi Minh City positions the Bulgarian university at the very heart of Southern Vietnam’s innovation and industrial hub.

The hosts from the University of Information Technology in Ho Chi Minh City expressed their admiration for the role of the University of Telecommunications and Post in the modernisation of Bulgarian higher education and its interdisciplinary model of education. Both sides shared the conviction that investing in student exchange and joint research is the surest bridge to building the new generation of global IT leaders.
