The University of Telecommunications and Post (UTP) has taken a new historic step in its international integration. Its Rector, Prof. Miglena Temelkova, DSc, officially signed a cooperation agreement with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT / Bach Khoa University) — the most prestigious and respected polytechnic university in Southern Vietnam.
The official signing ceremony was led by the President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong.
During the working meetings, the Bulgarian delegation presented the University of Telecommunications and Post to the Vietnamese academic community as the only higher education institution in Bulgaria with its own operational cyber range, making it the undisputed leader in cybersecurity education in the country. It was also noted that the University of Telecommunications and Post ranks among the top ten institutions in Bulgaria for education in communication technologies and artificial intelligence.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is the largest and leading research centre for engineering, technology and management in Southern Vietnam and is а part of the elite Vietnam National University. With its impressive capacity of over 26,000 students and internationally recognised and accredited engineering programmes, the university is a major driver of innovation in the region and a key partner of the global technology industry.
Owing to the strong similarities in the profiles and strategic goals of the two innovative higher education institutions, their leadership teams reached full agreement on a wide range of academic initiatives.
A key focus of the future partnership is the design and implementation of a joint international master’s degree model in cybersecurity. The programme will combine the academic and practical capabilities of both institutions, providing students with unique access to a global educational environment, shared resources and a high level of professional qualification fully aligned with the needs of the global labour market.
Student and academic staff exchanges, joint participation in prestigious European and global programmes such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe, joint research projects supported by collaborative research teams, the organisation of joint international conferences and joint scientific publications in renowned international journals are among the main provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Bulgarian and Vietnamese universities.
With the signing of this Memorandum in Ho Chi Minh City, the University of Telecommunications and Post has successfully consolidated its position as a key partner for Vietnamese higher education. The visit to the South is a natural continuation of the progress achieved earlier in the week in academic relations in Hanoi with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Phenikaa University, Bac Ha International University and Victoria Hoa Binh University.
